Villagers kill 13 robbers

SAHIWAL, Feb 10: Thirteen suspected robbers were killed and five others injured in an exchange of fire with two villagers in a nearby village in early hours of Sunday.

Sources said that about 25 armed people came to Chak 133/9-L in a truck and a car and allegedly entered in the house of Sardar Najeed, the village headman.

Their movement, the sources said, alerted two nephews of the headman, Mohsin and Farhan, who started firing on the intruders from the rooftop. The robbers returned fire and the exchange of fire continued for about one hour.

The robbers escaped in their truck, leaving the car behind. The headman claimed that the group was involved in looting his and two other houses in the area some 11 months ago.—Correspondent
