BAHAWALPUR, Feb 10: Pakistan People’s Party local leaders have protested against a campaign allegedly led by local government officials to remove posters, banners and hoardings of PPP candidates from the city and the use of official machinery in NA-187 for Pakistan Muslim League-Q candidates.
Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, PPP federal executive committee member Khan Muhammad Hussain Azad, district president Riaz Dahar and district information-secretary Salim Bhatti alleged the district nazim and officials of his subordinate departments were campaigning for PML-Q candidates.
They asked the election commission to take action against such people to ensure free and fair election on Feb 18.
They said a large number of PPP activists from Bahawalpur would attend the Faisalabad public meeting of party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Feb 14.
Separately, PPP candidate for NA-185 (Bahawalpur-III) Farooq Azam Malik said government officials were canvassing for PML-Q candidates.
