NAWABSHAH, Feb 10: Police on Sunday claimed to here arrested four car-jackers when they tried to snatch a vehicle on the Sakrand Road and found arms and ammunition in their possession.

District Police Officer Syed Ghayasuddin Rashidi told Dawn that he confronted criminals with a heavy contingent of police when they were trying to snatch the vehicle.

They tried to escape on seeing police but were caught at Naya Naka near Quaid-i-Awam University after a long chase and exchange of fire, he claimed.

He identified the accused as Sajan Oad, Dilsher Chandio, Habibullah Khoso and Punhal Salani and police found a Klashnikov, a pistol, 200 rounds and four magazines in their car.

He said that Habibullah was wanted to police in a number of cases involving snatching and kidnapping while police were running a check on the criminal record of his accomplices.
