JACOBABAD, Feb 10: Former speaker of the National Assembly and PML-N candidate for NA-208 Ellahi Bux Soomro on Sunday accused his rival candidate of getting fake voters registered in different places.

At a press conference at his residence, he said that the number of voters in Deh Qadirpur in 1988 was 2,700, in 1993 it stood at 2,748, in 2002 the number reduced to 2,197 but in 2007 it shot up to 10,180.

Mr Soomro further said that in Deh Jani Dero, the number of voters in 1988 was 6,286, in 1993 it was 9,110, in 2002 was 3,915 but it shot up to 9,149 in 2007. He added that it clearly indicated that bogus or duplicate entries had been made in his constituency.

Former speaker said he had lodged complaints to Chief Election Commissioner regarding duplicate entries of votes and elaborated that one Kouro s/o Gul Muhammad bearing NIC number 401-9310644 has been registered at four places viz Ali Hassan Zawarani, Jacobabad talauka, Qadirpur taluka Jacobabad, Aurangabad village Jacobabad taluka and Mithal Khoso village Garhi Khairo taluka.

He said that 32 cases have been detected in computerised electoral lists, wherein a voter is registered twice, thrice even four times in two dehs. The EC imposed a ban on transfer of officers but the government had violated the rules and some officers of his constituency were transferred, Soomro added.

He further said that he had lodged a complaint to the CEC and if no action was taken, he would file a petition in high court and seek a stay of election in his constituency.

To a question regarding patch up with caretaker prime minister Mohammedmian Soomro, he said that PM’s family had offered him slot of secretary general OIC, chairman Senate and district nazim Jacobabad but no one can purchase him by offering these positions, he added.
