KARACHI: ‘Feb 18 polls to determine nation’s direction’

KARACHI, Feb 9: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Nisar A. Memon has said that the Feb 18 general election will determine the future path of the country and the nation, which is at the moment standing at a historic crossroads.

He said the country was moving on the path of democracy, adding that the media had a very important role to play in this journey. Mr Memon was addressing a one-day workshop titled “Unite for Elections” held under the auspices of his ministry here on Saturday. Editors of various national dailies, besides senior journalists, analysts and staff of different electronic channels attended the workshop.

Mr Memon said the media was expected to create awareness of the importance of elections because it served as a bridge between the masses and the government. The minister said the state media was giving equal coverage to all political parties taking part in the elections.—APP
