Aitzaz rejects Scotland Yard findings

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Feb 8: Supreme Court Bar President Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has rejected Scotland Yard’s findings in the Benazir Bhutto assassination.

“Determining the cause of her death in the absence autopsy was like groping in the dark. How could they say she did not die of a bullet wound,” he asked while talking to reporters at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) here on Friday. Aitzaz said he would certainly like to know on what basis the Scotland Yard had ruled out the bullet factor. He said the investigation was bound to be speculative because the scene of the crime had been washed away immediately after the assassination. “The fact that no autopsy was ever conducted on the bodies of the victims who died in the bomb blast made the process of investigation prone to assumptions.”

About the elections, he said no matter how massively the election was rigged, the next prime minister would be from the Pakistan People’s Party. “I do not know about the candidate because I was not allowed to attend the PPP meetings or meet any party leader,” he replied to another query

He said the statistics and the facts available indicated that the PML-Q could not win more than 30 seats. “It would mean rigging if the King’s party managed more than 30 seats,” he added.

About his health, Aitzaz said he had come for a routine check-up and had no heart disease.

Earlier, the SCBA chief was brought to the hospital under tight security.
