Motorcade of nazim ‘attacked’

HYDERABAD, Feb 8: The motorcade of Tando Allahyar District Nazim Dr. Rahila Gul Magsi allegedly came under attack in Chambar area on Friday night, she said.

“I was going to offer condolences to the family over a death in a motorcade of 12 vehicles when it came under attack by people of Mari community, led by Ghulam Qadir Mari, his brother and 40 to 50 other people,” Dr Rahila alleged. “I, however, remained unhurt”, Dr.Rahila Magsi claimed over phone from Tando Allahyar.

According to her three of her companions suffered bullet injuries while three others of the nazim received stone injuries. When contacted police said that no FIR was lodged.

The incident took place near Tail Mori in the area of Sanjar Chang union council. UC Nazim Lakhi Rind, naib UC nazim Zulfiqar Thebo were accompanying the nazim.

There were reports that three of the injured were shifted to a Mirpurkhas hospital who, however, could not be located by our Mirpurkhas correspondent.

Meanwhile, Ghulam Qadir Mari told local journalists on his cell phone while on his way from Sukkur to Hyderabad that two of his colleagues, Manthar Mari and Qalandar Bux Mari, were injured by the gunmen of Dr Rahila Magsi.

They also damaged a petrol outlet owned by him, he added.
