Kasprowicz to quit this month

SYDNEY, Feb 7: Former Australian Test paceman Michael Kasprowicz on Thursday said he would retire from cricket later this month.

Kasprowicz, who turns 36 on Sunday, said he felt it was time to quit and give Queensland’s younger pacemen a chance to finish out the domestic season.

Kasprowicz made his first class debut as a 17-year-old in 1989-90. He played 38 Tests for Australia, the last in South Africa in April 2006, and captured 113 wickets at 32.88 with a best of 7 for 36. He also featured in 43 One-day Internationals, capturing 67 wickets at 24.98 besides participating in two Twenty20 Internationals ending with five wickets at 11.40.

He will finish as Queensland’s leading wicket-taker in the Sheffield Shield with 437.—AFP
