KARACHI, Feb 6: Ahsan Javed scored 25 points as the City School Gulshan A levels defeated DA Public School 61-43 in the sixth Aga Khan University (AKU) Inter School/Collegiate boys’ basketball tournament at the AKU Gymnasium on Tuesday.

The winners led the first half 29-22 and maintained their superiority in the second half.

Naveed Arshad (14 points) and Shahid Mughal (11 points) supported Ahsan to take their side to victory.

In other matches, Fatimyah College beat Shah Wilayat Public School with narrow scores of 41-39.

At half time, the scores were 24-23.

Yousuf Raza scored 18 points for the winners. Zain Shahid (15) and M. Areeb (14) tried to save their side from defeat but in vain.

St Patrick’s High School overcame British International School in a closely contested match. The scores were 39-38.

Milton D’Souza struck 11 points for the winning school. Asad Ali and Zain Ahmed scored 14 and 10 points respectively but could not save British International School from defeat.

Hassan Anwar scored 24 points as College of Business Management beat Aga Khan Higher Secondary School 54-38.

The scores at the half time were 28-22.

The Lyceum School won against L’ecole School For Advanced Studies 40-35.

The winners were leading the match at half time with 24 points against L’ecole School’s 15.

Idrees Ali scored 13 points for Lyceum.

In the sixth match of the day, Karachi Grammar School outclassed K.N. Academy 65-27.

Shaharyar Malik and Narius Sethna scored 18 and 14 points respectively for the Grammarians.

Meanwhile, Institute of Business Management defeated Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine 2-0 in the fourth AKU Inter-university girls’ throwball tournament.

L’ecole For Advanced Studies beat Ziauddin University 2-1 in the next match.

Dow University of Health Sciences overcame SZABIST 2-0 in the third Inter-university throwball match of the day.
