OKARA, Feb 6: A dacoit was killed while his brother sustained severe injuries by the firing of their accomplices here on Wednesday.

Reports said two dacoits Shafique and his brother Nafees intercepted motorcyclist Maqsood, a carriage contractor of Baba Farid Sugar Mills, near the Habib Bank branch.

The accused tried to snatch his bike (OKC-1188) and other valuables and injured him on offering resistance. Maqsood raised an alarm on which sugarcane farmers rushed to the spot. Some accomplices of the accused who were present a few yards from the scene, opened fire. As a result Shafique was killed on the spot. Nafees sustained injuries and the police shifted him to the DHQ hospital.

The body was shifted to the DHQ hospital for autopsy.
