RAWALPINDI, Feb 6: The city district government has received damage claims of Rs15 million from the people who were affected in four days of rioting and arson in the aftermath of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto’s assassination near Liaquat Bagh on December 27, Dawn has learnt.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi Irfan Illahi, when contacted, said the government had verified claims worth Rs3.4 million and had sent the proposed compensation figures to the Federal Compensation and Damage Assessment Committee for the release of money. Rest of the claims could not be confirmed by the district government, he added.— A Reporter
