Zakir excels with seven wickets

KARACHI, Feb 4: Zone-IV, Zone-II and Zone-VI emerged victorious in the latest round of matches in the Karachi region segment of the PCB Inter-district Under-19 cricket tournament on Monday.

Zone-IV beat Zone-VII by 94 runs at the Pak Star Ground, Zone-VI overwhelmed Zone-I by a margin of 81 runs at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, while Zone-II thrashed Zone-V by 95 runs at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground on the final day of the two-day fixtures.

The star performer on Monday was medium-pacer Zakir Afridi who claimed seven for 62 as Zone-I were bundled out for 142 after being set 224 or victory. Zakir also excelled with the bat on Sunday by scoring an unbeaten 47.

At Pak Star Ground: Zone-IV beat Zone-VII by 94 runs.

ZONE-IV 205 in 58.4 overs (Sohaib Shakeel 45, Yasir Munir 41; Mubarak Zaib 5-55, Mirza Mohammad Azhar Shah 3-27); ZONE-VII 111 in 46.2 overs (Arsalan Saleem 5-27, Shahzaib Hasan 3-53).
