TIMERGARA: Teachers want transfer to home stations
By Our Correspondent
TIMERGARA, Feb 4: The non-local teachers of primary schools in Lower Dir district have threatened to set up a hunger strike camp in front of Peshawar High Court if they were not transferred to their home stations before fresh appointments.
The decision was made in a meeting held here on Monday with district president of Non Local Teachers Association Wilayat Khan in the chair.
The meeting was attended by a large number of primary school teachers, serving in far flung area of the district. The meeting was addressed by the general secretary of the association Mian Sher, deputy secretary Jamal Hussain, press secretary Bahadar Muhammad and others.
The speakers said that despite promises by the authorities they had not been transferred to their home stations and the vacant posts in the areas had been filled by the fresh appointments.
They said they had been serving in the far flung areas of the district for the last 20 years. The teachers said that they had filed a writ petition in the Peshawar High Court in this respect which was under trial.
They demanded of PHC chief justice, NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani, provincial education minister Miraj Humayun and other high ups of the education department to postpone the proposed test and interview for the primary school teachers until their transfer had not been ensured.
