HYDERABAD: Villager seeks help against NAB official

By Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Feb 4: A villager has appealed to the president and the prime minister, minister for interior, director-general NAB and others to save him and other peasants from the alleged tyranny of deputy director of NAB, Abdul Hafeez Siddiqui.

Zamir Ahmed Solangi, resident of Mian Jo Goth, Mehar taluka, Dadu district, told a news conference here on Monday that the deputy director of NAB, Abdul Hafeez Siddiqui, had taken over the possession of the lands of his cousin Makhdoom Iftikharul Haq by force two years back. He, however, said that Makhdoom Iftikharul Haq got back his land after he made complaints to the higher authorities.

He said to take revenge from his cousin, the NAB official was harassing his peasants and also lodged many false cases against them at different police stations. He said that he and other peasants had held a press conference at Karachi press club and staged a hunger strike and took out protest demonstrations outside Dadu and Hyderabad press clubs but justice was not restored to them.

He said a peasant, Mullah Mureed, was arrested from outside the Hyderabad press club by police on Sunday.
