Kurd released

QUETTA, Feb 1: Pakistan Bar Council member Ali Ahmed Kurd was released here on Friday as the home department did not extend his detention in his home.

Talking to mediamen, he said the lawyers would continue their struggle till restoration of the pre-Nov 3 judiciary.

Mr Kurd was arrested on Nov 4 following imposition of emergency rule.

He had been under house arrest since Nov 15. A large number of lawyers greeted him at his home.

Mr Kurd said he would soon meet PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to offer condolences over the death of Benazir Bhutto.—Correspondent
