Junaid excels in PCB event


KARACHI, Jan 31: Off-spinner Junaid Ilyas returned remarkable figures of nine for 44 as Zone-VI defeated Zone-IV by six wickets in the PCB Karachi region Under-19 Cricket Championship fixture at the KCCA Stadium on Thursday.

Junaid, who bowled 26.4 overs, single-handedly bowled out Zone-IV for 155 in the 59th over. Jahangir Shah was the top-scorer for Zone-IV with 35. Zone-VI, in reply, reached their target in the 31st over for the loss four wickets. Opener Fakhar Zaman struck 10 boundaries in making 62. Meanwhile, at TMC Ground, Zone-VII’s left-arm spinner Adnan Malik captured six wickets but Zone-II still did well to score 260 all out on the first day. Saeed Mutabir cracked 11 boundaries in his 71.

Adnan ended up with six for 71 in 22 overs.

By close of play, Zone-VII were in trouble at 22-3 in eight overs with off-spinner Shiraz Ali Khan taking two of the wickets without conceding a run.
