Flintoff still unfit

Published February 1, 2008

LONDON, Jan 31: Andrew Flintoff will continue his bid to regain full fitness by joining the England Lions, the national ‘A’ side, during their tour of India next month just weeks after being left out of the squad.

However, officials stressed on Wednesday the Lancashire and England all-rounder would not play for the Lions, already in the sub-continent, in any of their fixtures as a guest side in India’s domestic Duleep Trophy competition as he tries to overcome a longstanding ankle problem.

The 30-year-old former England captain, who had been due to join Lancashire’s academy squad in Mumbai next month for a pre-season batting clinic, is now set to meet up with the Lions in Baroda on Feb 10.—AFP
