LAKKI MARWAT: Two abducted teachers recovered
By Our Correspondent
LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 30: Two college teachers, who had been kidnapped along with two other persons near Serai Naurang on January 21, were recovered on Wednesday after payment of ransom, sources said.
Bashir Ahmad, a lecturer in Government Degree College Serai Naurang and his son Azizullah, who is also a lecturer in the Government Degree College Ghaznikhel, had been kidnapped along with driver Sher Baz and his companion Ajmal when they were going to Mithu Ghaznikhel.
Sarhad College Teachers Association (SCTA) as well as the students of both the colleges had held separate protest demonstrations to press the government and law enforcement agencies for ensuring the safe recovery of the kidnapped teachers.
The sources said that abductors released all the four captives including the college teachers on Kakki road wherefrom they reached their homes. The release was part of a deal under which the kidnappers were paid Rs2 million as ransom, the sources added. A police official, however, denied reports of payment of ransom to the kidnappers.
“The college teachers and their drivers were abducted apparently on the suspicion that either they are employed in NGO or involved in activities boosting the role of such organizations,” official said quoting the statement of the teachers they made before the local police.
