LAHORE, Jan 29: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday refused to confirm interim bail granted to an army officer accused of beating his brother and his wife after barging into their house.

Colonel Tahir Mahmood Nasir, currently posted in Lahore, is engaged in litigation with his brother, Dr Shahid Mahmood Nasir, who is an additional superintendent of Mayo Hospital, over inherited property. Both the brothers, according to the FIR, have got FIRs lodged against each other involving family members as well.

The case was registered at Muslim Town police station on the complaint of Col Tahir’s brother.

In the FIR, Dr Shahid alleged that on Jan 5 last year, his brother Colonel Tahir, his wife Sameera and four unknown armed persons forcibly entered into the upper portion of their Muslim Town residence.

He said he was severely beaten up and his wife Huda, who was a witness to the incident, had to call the police, which came to his rescue.

Colonel Tahir through his counsel denied the incident and stated it was Dr Shahid, who along with his wife, son and four persons, trespassed the ground flour of their Muslim Town residence on the same night and misbehaved.

Col Tahir said after getting medical result of the injuries, he lodged a case with the local police station. The police had registered a case against Dr Shahid, his wife, son and four other armed persons, he added.

He said later his brother got registered a false case against him on the basis of `self-inflicted’ injuries. Col Tahir said that a suit for partition of their house was pending before a civil court, alleging that Dr Shahid wanted to occupy the whole property after killing him.

He said that despite appearing before the investigating officer many times to record their statements, he and his wife were declared proclaimed offenders.

He said a petition seeking quashment of the case was also pending before the LHC. Col Tahir requested the court that he might be allowed interim bail pending the final disposal of the case.
