JI holds polls boycott camp

Published January 30, 2008

OKARA, Jan 29: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) workers led by district amir Sheikh Muhammad Farooq held a day-long protest camp in front of Gole Chowk Masjid, urging the political parties and the people to boycott the Feb 18 general election.

They said there was no use to go to polls being held under Gen Pervez Musharraf’s rule and an Election Commission, which was not independent.

They chanted slogans dema-nding reinstatement of superior courts’ judges sacked and detained after the promulgation of ProvisionalConsti-tution Order on Nov 3.
