Team on mission to promote harmony

LARKANA, Jan 29: An 18-member delegation on ‘national solidarity mission’ organised by the Sungi Development Foundation arrived here on Tuesday.

The delegation attended a dialogue programme at a local hotel with members of civil society.

They said that keeping in view the prevailing political situation in the country after the assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto they have come here to express their solidarity and sympathy with the people of Sindh.

They said they want to promote harmony among provinces and in this regard there are on people-to-people contact mission.

The members of the delegation were belonged to different professions, communities and regions from across the country.

The delegation is on a week-long tour of Sindh.

They started their tour from Islamabad on Jan 27, and would hold meetings with people of all walks of life to convey the message of harmony, they said.

They said they would also compile the feedback they would receive.

Speaking at the dialogue programme, the speakers, Ms Shabna Kusar, Taj Lala, Jabbar Kehar, Dilshad Bhutto, Gul Bibi, Raouf Abbasi, Muhsin Samo, Aziz Mangi, Jamshiad Iqbal, Muhktiar Samo and Hamid Kalhoro had said that the assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto had further deepened the sense of deprivation of Sindh.

They alleged that ‘the establishment was behind this conspiracy’.

They stressed upon the need to understand the ‘pulse of Sindh’.

Underling the need to keep the country intact, the speakers quoted references from history and said that Pakistan was a multilingual country.

The delegation would visit Dadu, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Khairpur and Sukkur and would hold press conference on February 3 at Lahore.

Taj Lala (Haripur), Amjad Nazeer (Multan), Mohsin Babbar (Islamabad), Shabana Kausar (Manshera), Perveen Hayat (Northren Areas), Adam Gul (Mansehra), Saad Yousaf (Azad Kashmir), Gulfam Dogar (Sheikhupura), Shakeel Ahmad (Mansehra), Khalid Ahmed (Haripur), Mohammad Naeem (Abbottabad), Zahoor Joyia (Multan), Jamshed Iqbal (Multan), Nadir Shah (Battagram), Bakhshish Ahmad (Haripur), Khursheed Mughal (Azad Kashmir) and Ishfaq Abbasi (Abbottabad) are the members of the delegation.
