Govt rejects criticism

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 29: A government spokesman has termed as “factually incorrect and unfortunate” a statement by the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) criticising President Pervez Musharraf’s remarks in response to a question by Dawn’s London correspondent Mohammad Ziauddin.

The spokesman said that “at no point in time had President Musharraf instigated people to violence against journalists or preached intolerance”.

He added that while media was totally free to ask any type of question “they should also be tolerant enough to hear and absorb frank and honest answers”.
