No respite from biting chill

Published January 28, 2008

LAHORE, Jan 27: The minimum temperature in Lahore and some other cities dipped further as the cold wave continued affecting the country on Sunday.

The minimum temperature dropped in Lahore from Saturday’s - 0.2 degree Celsius to -2 degrees and in Kalam from -16 degrees C to -18 degrees C.

There was no respite against the cold weather even during the daytime in provincial metropolis. Roads became deserted in the evening and people preferred to remain indoors for protection.

The local Met office expected some relief in view of the presence of a westerly wave over the NWFP during the next 24 hours. But, a senior meteorologist reiterated that the improvement would not be significant and the cold wave would continue lasting for yet another couple of days. — Staff Reporter
