KARACHI: CM defends transfers


KARACHI, Jan 27: Sindh (caretaker) chief minister Justice (Retd) Abdul Qadir Halepota has said that all recent appointments and transfers in Sindh were made in accordance with the law, pointing out that only those officials and staffers have been transferred who have to perform election duties.

He was speaking during his meeting with Provincial Election Commissioner Chaudhry Qamaruz Zaman at the Chief Minister’s House.

The chief minister and provincial election commissioner also exchanged views on the arrangements made so far for the holding of peaceful and fair general election on Feb 18.

The chief minister noted that the polling arrangements had been finalised and meetings were under way to ensure maintenance of law and order during the election process. He said that foolproof security arrangements were being made to ensure peace during the election. He pledged all out efforts in this regard.—PPI
