HYDERABAD, Jan 26: A teenaged servant who had fallen victim to domestic violence at his workplace was admitted to Civil Hospital on Saturday after police arrested three members of the family who had allegedly tortured him.

Medico-Legal Officer Dr. Mohammad Ayub Wassan said that the boy had visible marks of violence “he has certainly been tortured but he has no burn wounds. The marks could be the result of torture with some blunt object or iron.”

Kishore, son of Satram, who is resident of Allah Bux Pitafi village near Tando Bago, Badin, has been admitted to hospital and his X-ray has been done.

“I was kept three days without food or clothes by my employer, who suspected me of committing theft of gold in the house,” Kishore Meghwar told this scribe.

He denied having committed theft and said that he had been employed there about 20 days ago. The boy blamed his employer and his relatives of torturing him.

“I kept denying that I have not done it but they didn’t believe me,” said the boy whose body bore blackish marks of violence all over his chest, abdomen and arms.

Bhittai Nagar police have arrested the boy’s employer Kanhya Lala, a retired employee of Wapda, his wife Sarla and nephew Deepak.

“The boy’s condition was serious when I saw him,” said ASI Manzoor Jamali who led the raiding party. He said that a case of illegal detention and subjecting the boy to torture would be lodged when complainant turned up for FIR.

Police moved into action after the boy’s family member Bhar Mal moved an application to supervising police officer (SPO) Bhittai Nagar.

According to Kanhya Lal’s wife, 10-gold bangles, three rings, one gold set and two ‘mangalsutr” were stolen. Mr Lal said that the boy started making different statements when he was told that certain items were missing.

He categorically denied torturing the boy.

The boy’s father, Satram, said that when he went to the family they first said that the boy had fled away and then said he had been kept somewhere.

“When I reached here to meet my son in the evening on Friday I was also detained with my son, who was until then kept on the rooftop,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Society for Protection of Rights of Child (SPARC) condemned the incident and demanded legal action against the perpetrators. SPARC officials also visited the hospital and met with police officials.
