Hissam excels in polo tourney

LAHORE, Jan 25: Five-goal Hissam Ali Hyder helped Polo De Sufi beat Pyramid Gas 8 1/2-4 in 7-12 Goals Polo Cup on Friday.

Hissam struck back-to-back goals while Sufi’s Mohammad Amir added one as the winners, who had a half-goal handicap, surged ahead 3 1/2-1 in the first chukker.

Tomas Renioso, who scored three for the losers, struck his first.

Renioso pumped in his second in the second chukker, which was also the solitary goal of the chukker, to reduce the margin 3 1/2-2. But from the third chukker onwards, Polo De Sufi were on top adding three more goals, two from Hissam and one from Usman Haye to increase the lead 6 1/2-4. For the losers Renioso scored his last while Mir Shoaib Ahmed one.

In the third chukker Polo De Sufi proving their supremacy, entered two more goals through Sufi Mohammad Aamir and Hissam to complete the tally.

Telenor beat Newage/Rangers 12- 11/12 in a match, which completed in two phases. Telenor led the first phase 7-5 1/2. In the second phase both the teams were locked at five-all.
