PML-Q candidate barred from elections

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Jan 25: A Balochistan High Court bench on Friday disqualified PML-Q candidate Mir Gul Khan Marri from contesting Feb 18 election from PB-23, Kohlu.

The bench, comprising acting Ahief Justice Ahmed Khan Lashari, Justice Nadir Khan Durrani and Justice Kalash Nath Kohli, announced the judgment on a petitition filed by Zulfiqar Marri, the rival candidate of Mr Mir Gul Marri.

In his petition, Mr Zulfiqar stated that Mr Mir Gul was ineligible to contest the polls as he had not completed the two-year mandatory period after resigning from the government service in the Levies force.

After hearing arguments of Mr Zulfiqar, the bench disqualified the PML-Q candidate from contesting elections.
