Australia thrash Pakistan in junior hockey

LAHORE, Jan 23: Australia thrashed Pakistan 6-4 in the eight-nation invitational junior hockey tournament at National Hockey Stadium in Malaysia.

According to information available here on Thursday, Australia were leading 4-0 at half time and after finding themselves down with this huge deficit, Pakistan fought back in the second half only to reduce the margin by 5-4.

Mohammad Taufeeq, Inayatullah, Mohammad Zubair and Kashif Ali scored for the losing side.

Pakistan, who won against Malaysia, have drawn twice with India and the Netherlands and lost against Germany before drubbing against Australia.

Meanwhile, India caused a major upset in the competition, pulverising the Germans 5-1.

Pakistan play their next match against New Zealand on Thursday.
