Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in U-19 triangular match

LAHORE, Jan 23: Fine batting by opener Umar Amin along with good work with the leather by Mohammad Rameez and captain Imad Wasim helped the Pakistan Under-19 side defeat their Sri Lankan counterpart by 83 runs on Wednesday in the triangular tournament being played at the Colts Cricket Club ground, Colombo.

Umar hit 68 off 114 balls with five boundaries as Pakistan in their 50 overs were able to set a mounting total of 256-5. Ali Asad (42), Usman Salahuddin (41 not out) and Umar Akmal (41) all made key contributions. Rameez conceded just 31 runs in 10 overs to claim three wickets while Imad earned as many scalps for 56 in 7.3 overs. Sri Lanka was bundled out for 173 in just 38.3 overs, despite lower-order batsman KPCM Peirls’s unbeaten knock of 62. Peirls also excelled with the ball, taking three wickets for 43 runs.

Pakistan U-19: 256-5, 50 overs (Umar Amin 68, Umer Akmal 41, Ali Asad 42, Usman Salahuddin 41 not out; KPCM Peirls 3-43).

Sri Lanka U-19: 173, 38.3 overs (KPCM Peirls 62 not out, ARS Silva 23, NM Kavikara 20; Mohammad Rameez 3-31, Imad Wasim 3-56, Junaid Khan 2-32).
