KARACHI, Jan 22: The Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) has finalised the dates for the 24th Asian snooker championship which will be held in Dubai at the Police Officers’ Club from May 1 to 10.

Asghar Valika, the ACBS president and advisor to the UAE Billiards and Snooker Association (UAEBSA), on his return from the UAE said over 30 countries including Pakistan, India, China and Thailand would take part in the competition.

Valika, who is also the chief of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association, said they would be contacting their Indian counterparts for setting new dates for the Test series between the two countries.

The series had been scheduled to take place in the first week of December but could not take place due to security reasons.

He said the 34th National snooker championship would be held in the last week of February in which 48 cueists from Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan participate.

The winner and runner-up of the national championship will represent Pakistan in the Asian competition in Dubai.—Agencies
