SAHIWAL, Jan 21: The gunman and cashier of a filling station were shot dead while two other employees sustained injuries on resistance during a robbery on GT Road near Gaoo Shala early on Monday.

Reports said that four armed bandits came to Saeed Petroleum Station by a car and got its fuel tank filled. The bandits later overpowered gunman Nisar Ahmed and asked cashier Asghar Ali to handover all the cash to them. Armed bandits wasted no time in opening fire when the cashier tried to resist, killing gunman and cashier instantly and wounding Imran and Atif. Within no time, bandits collected Rs145,000 in cash, a cell phone, a gun and escaped from the scene.

Shahzad Saeed Cheema, a PPP aspirant from PP-224, owns the filling station. Police are looking into the matter.

It may be mentioned that armed bandits had some two weeks back also looted Rs400,000 in cash from the petrol pump of former MPA Rana Aftab Ahmed.

Meanwhile, unidentified armed robbers snatched a car and a motorcycle from two persons on Harappa Bypass here on Sunday night. Reports said that a gunman deprived Ahsan Waqar of his car from near Chak 187/9-L while three robbers relieved Iqbal of his motorcycle and Rs30,000 in cash.

Dera Rahim police have registered cases.

CASE: Carrying out court orders, the Grain Market police on Monday registered a girl’s kidnap case after seven weeks.

Reports said that accused Muhammad Arshad and Piran Ditta along with their accomplice woman had kidnapped Sadaf in Sharif Colony on Dec 1, 2007.
