Ceasefire extended

MIRAMSHAH, Jan 21: The shura of militants in North Waziristan on Monday extended until Jan 27 a ceasefire that they had announced on Dec 17, sources said.

The truce in the restive region had earlier been extended until Jan 20. The militants had stopped their activities on Dec 17 and security forces had removed some makeshift checkpoints in the area.

The sources added that the government had tasked the tribal Khasadar Force with vehicles in the region.—Our Correspondent
