KARACHI: Policy-making

Published January 22, 2008

KARACHI, Jan 21: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has asked the caretaker government not to indulge in policy-making as it was not supposed to undertake things on a long-term basis.

Former legislators Mohammad Hussain Mehanti, Laeeq Khan, Muzaffar Ahmad Hashmi, Nasrullah Khan Shaji, Hameedullah Khan advocate and Yunus Barai, in a statement issued here on Monday, took strong exception to the caretaker federal Minister for Education Shams Kassem Lakha’s intention to chalk out the national education policy and fix its priorities. “This is a job that could be undertaken only by an elected government,” they argued.

Mr Lakha has reportedly summoned a meeting of the officials concerned for the purpose.
