HARIPUR, Jan 19: A jobless man committed suicide on the jurisdiction of Saddar police station here on Friday evening.

Police quoted Sultant Khan of village Nartopa as saying that his son Ahsan Khan was jobless and was facing financial problems for quite some time. Disappointed by financial constraints, he locked himself in his room and shot at his chest with 30 bore pistol.

The family members, after hearing the gunshot, broke the door and found him lying in a pool of blood. They rushed him to hospital but he succumbed to his injury before reaching hospital.—Correspondent
