Five PPP workers arrested

MITHI, Jan 18: Thar police arrested five PPP activists on Thursday.

The Diplo police arrested the president PPP UC Bolhari, Ali Murad Lund, Ghulam Rasool Lund and a peon of high school Kaloi, Asghar Lund. Meanwhile, Nagarparkar police arrested Mohammad Kumbhar and Soomar Shaikh.

All five were arrested for their alleged involvement in riots after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination.

According to sources, a considerable number of Thar residents believed to be the PPP loyalists, have reportedly gone underground fearing their arrest.

ACCIDENT: Two children were killed and one person was injured in a road accident here on Friday.

The accident occurred after a taxi heading towards Islamkot from Nagarparkar overturned near Dano Dhandhal village. It overturned due to high speed. Two minors Shakoor and Bhagwan died instantly, whereas their uncle Pancho was seriously injured and rushed to Nagarparkar hospital.

ELECTION: An election was held at the Mithi Press Club on Thursday. Khatau Jani was elected as president, Koshal Sharma vice president, Prem Shivani general secretary, Bhura Lal joint secretary, Hamzo Khan treasurer, Basheer Samejo office secretary and Nand Lal press secretary.

The elections were held under the supervision of Haji Ghulam Hussain, patron-in-chief of the club.
