Traffic diversion plan for Islamabad

By Our Staff Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Jan 18: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have chalked out a diversion plan for Muharram 9 in the federal capital.

According to the plan, the 7th Avenue from Suharwardi Road to Margalla Road, from F-6 Chowk to Suharwardi Road and Fazal-i-Haq Road from China Chowk to Kulsum Plaza will be closed for general traffic.

The road from Iqbal Hall to Melody Chowk, Municipal Road from Aabpara to Polyclinic, Luqman Hakeem Road from Polyclinic to Lal Quarters and G-6 service road from Ambassador Hotel chowk to Lal Quarters Chowk will remain closed and the traffic would be diverted on alternative routes.

The traffic police have advised the public to use alternative routes, as ITP personnel would be deployed on various routes to guide them.

However, those living in the security clamped areas would be allowed to go after their verification.

Meanwhile, security measures for the eight main processions to be taken out in the capital on Muharram 8-11 were discussed at a meeting.

The Muharram 9 processions will be taken out from Aabpara and Sabzi Mandi. The Muharram 10 processions are scheduled to be taken out from Aabpara and Shalimar and then from Golra and Secretariat on 11th of the month.
