KARACHI: Six Indian fishermen sent to jail

KARACHI, Jan 18: Five Indian fishermen, arrested by the authorities protecting Pakistan’s territorial waters, were sent to prison after the court of Judicial Magistrate-IV (West) remanded them in police custody.

According to police sources, these fishermen were arrested on January 15 and handed over to the police on January 16. They were found fishing illegally in Pakistan territorial waters about 90 nautical miles from the coast. They were arrested and their boat was seized by the authorities concerned.

The names of those arrested are Karwa, son of Dewa; Jewa, son of Cheevi; Bhola, son of Jamid; Kanak, son of Jiwa; and Naro, son of Ram Bhai. The five were on-board a vessel, Jalpari, police said.

On last Saturday, six Indian fishermen were nabbed on the same charges.

Their boat was seized. After obtaining their remand from court, they were sent to prison on Monday.—APP
