HYDERABAD: SPLA seeks return of teachers from STB

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, Jan 17: The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) demanded on Wednesday that all the college teachers serving in the Sindh Textbook Board (STB) should be sent back to their institutions, which faced shortage of teachers.

The demand came at a meeting of the association chaired by Prof Yaqoob Chandio.

The meeting noted that some vested interests had started negative propaganda against the board’s chairman to harm the institution’s financial interests.

The meeting claimed that the group was trying to blackmail the chairman with regards to purchase of paper and publication of books for the new academic year.

The meeting said that a high-powered committee of SPLA would meet in Karachi on Jan 27 to discuss the prevailing situation in the board, educational institutions, and problems of college teachers.

Prof Liaquat Aziz, Prof Siddiq Unnar, Taj Joyo, Ghazanfar Shah, Parveen Channa and Nasreen Gul Mastoi were among those who attended the meeting.
