Sabzi Mandi traders fined Rs30,000: Snap checking

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 16: The city administration on Wednesday conducted a surprise check at Sabzi Mandi regarding security arrangements, price hike, illegal trade and violation of parking rules.

The checking was conducted under the supervision of magistrate Liaquat Abbasi, who imposed Rs30,000 fines on traders for not displaying price lists.

Besides, the checking team impounded 12 vehicles for violating parking rules.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amir Ali told Dawn that the checking was conducted after receiving complaints against the fruit merchants of Sabzi Mandi.

He said the snap checking was made to review security arrangements in the Mandi besides regulating prices of fruits and vegetables.

A number of visitors to the Mandi violated parking rules and parked their vehicles on roads and no-parking areas, causing difficulties to other people, he said, adding the team impounded the vehicles.
