By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 16: A 45-year-old man was found shot dead in Model Colony early on Wednesday morning.

Police said a passerby informed them at 7am that a body was lying near Hira Masjid in Kazimabad.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was identified as Asif Abbasi, a resident of Liaquat Market, Malir. Abbasi, an accountant at the University of Karachi, had been missing since Tuesday evening. His family reached the JPMC and recognised him.

Hospital sources said the victim had received two bullets, one in his left jaw and the other in left leg, fired from a very close range. They said the victim was also tortured before being shot.

Model Colony police said the body was later handed over to the family who were yet to lodge a case.

They said the family was engaged in the funeral and a case was expected to be registered late night.
