Students protest hostel closure

Published January 16, 2008

NAWABSHAH, Jan 15: Dozens of students staged a demonstration outside the press club on Tuesday to protest against the principal of the Government Degree College, Nawabshah, for forcibly getting the hostel vacated.

The protesters, led by Dadan Rustamani, Salaam Brohi, Mujahid Rind and Waryam Lakho, raised slogans against the principal. They said that the principal had forcibly vacated the hostel and accommodated army troops in its rooms.

They said that despite having paid their fees they had been shifted to the hostel of the Sachal College, which had no electricity and furniture and was without a mess. They said that as a result of this students who came from far-flung areas had a lot of trouble in concentrating on their studies.

They said that availability of proper accommodation was necessary for their studies to continue without any hindrances.
