By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 14: Acute water shortage persists in certain parts of Lyari, Keamari and Saddar Towns, besides Mehmoodabad, PECHS Block-6 (Green Belt Area), Manzoor Colony and Clifton’s Block-2.

Residents of the old city area, which includes Kharadar, Mithadar, Moosa Lane, Punjabi Club, Tower, Bombay Bazaar, Kamil Gali, Kaghzi Bazaar, Memon Society, Bheempura, Lea Market, Ghas Mandi, etc said that they had been facing water shortage for a couple of months but over the past few days the supply had stopped altogether.

They said that the supply used to be made at any time in 24 hours for 10-15 minute duration and that too on alternate days. They quantity of water supplied for two days was absolutely inadequate for any single purpose, they added.

Accusing the KWSB officials concerned of not heeding to their repeated calls for adequate water supply, they warned that the situation might result in public reaction of senior officials of the water utility continued to deprive thousands of households in the area from the most essential commodity for which they had been paying all taxes.

They urged the KWSB authorities to implement a better water supply schedule and ensure an enhanced duration of supply as well as normal pressure.
