KARACHI: Asif’s absence condoned in corruption case

By A Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 14: The special judge anti-corruption court (central) on Monday condoned PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s absence from the hearing of the container case on the request of the defence counsel.

The court fixed March 20 as the next date of hearing after the counsel, Shahadat Awan, submitted an application to the court on behalf of his client stating that Asif Zardari was busy receiving condolences over the death of his wife and former primer minister, Benazir Bhutto.

An FIR (No.2/97) was registered against Asif Ali Zardari and former high commissioner of Pakistan to the United Kingdom Wajid Shamsul Hasan by the FIA, State Bank Circle, in a corruption case.
