Port Qasim

KARACHI, Jan 14: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim (PQ) where two ships MSC Germany and Vema Ocean, carrying containers and furnace oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal (QICT) and Fotco Terminal, respectively, on Sunday, the Port sources said Monday.

Three ships, carrying containers and diesel oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of PQ during same period.

Berth occupancy was managed to 80pc at the Port where eight ships viz MSC Germany, CGM Tulip, MV Bolan, MV Leopard-B, Gemini, Aviona, Vema Ocean and Kaghan were engaged at berths to load and offload containers, rice, cement, edible oil, wheat, furnace oil and iron ore respectively during the report period.

Port where a cargo volume of 87,871 tons, comprising 65641 tons imports and 22230 tons exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1550 (Teus) was handled.

Seven ships are currently at the outer anchorage and they are Pedoulas, City of Dubrovnik, MSC Lucia, New Toyokaze, Elegent Victoria, Nedlloyed Europia, Maersk Virginia, carrying crude oil, wheat, containers, edible oil, diesel oil.—APP
