KARACHI, Jan 13: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has said that the rights of Sindh can only be attained through a committed, dedicated and struggle.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, Mr Hussain addressed members of the MQM Sindh Intellectual Forum through the telephone and asked why Mohajirs could not be considered as sons of Sindh like the Balochi speaking, Pukhtun, Afghan and even those who came from the Arabian Peninsula to the province.
Referring to his open letter addressed to Sindhis, Mr Hussain said that certain elements had been stirring up a propaganda based on the word ‘Mohajir’ even though the letter had stated that Urdu-speaking people were committed to Sindh and were Sindhis. “These elements meted out the same treatment to Sindhi brothers who joined the MQM as they did to the Mohajirs. These elements are themselves the agents of anti-Sindh forces and opposing all those Sindhis who have joined the righteous struggle of the MQM.”
He said the MQM had been trying to spread the message of love, devotion, unity and brotherhood but ‘the anti-Sindh elements and their cohorts’ had been fanning ethnic hatred.
“Sindh’s rights cannot be attained by mere talk or conspiracies of pitting the people of Sindh against each other. The only way to attain the rights is to enter the practical field of committed, dedicated, honest and intellectual struggle,” he said.
