Murray tipped as future world number one

MELBOURNE, Jan 12: Rafael Nadal on Saturday tipped Andy Murray as a future world number one, forecasting an ‘unbelievable’ year for the 20-year-old Scot.

“I think he (Murray) is going to have his chances to have an unbelievable year. I think he has everything to be one, two, three, four, five in the world,” said the Spaniard, who is currently world number two.

Murray, who has four titles to his name, has been widely touted as a future Grand Slam winner with former British number one Greg Rusedski also forecasting that he has the potential to claim the top world ranking.

“My opinion is if he didn’t have the injury last year, maybe he would have been in Shanghai. He wasn’t in Shanghai, which is disappointing for him.”—AFP
