Asif still without security, says PPP

By M.B. Kalhoro

LARKANA, Jan 11: The government has still not provided proper security to Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, says Senator Farooque H. Naik.

Talking to journalists in Naudero on Friday, the PPP senator said that the federal and Punjab governments had failed in discharging their legal duties.

He said that under Section 147 of the Criminal Procedure Code, it was the duty of police to conduct post-mortem by a qualified doctor.

Alleging negligence on the part of police for not conducting a post-mortem, he said, a decision about Benazir Bhutto’s autopsy would now be taken by her family and Asif Zardari.

He said that the draft of the petition to be forwarded to the United Nations had been sent to the caretaker prime minister, seeking the government’s approval for setting up an international investigation commission.

He said that the party had also sent two other petitions.
