15 held, arms recovered

QUETTA, Jan 11: Police arrested 15 armed men after a heavy exchange of fire in the eastern bypass area on Friday and seized a large quantity of arms and ammunition.

Sources said that police and Frontier Corps personnel had signalled a vehicle to stop at a checkpoint but the driver ignored the signal and tried to speed away.

Police and FC personnel chased the vehicle and an exchange of fire took place in the Rind Ghar area. It continued for half and hour and ended with the arrest of 15 gunmen. Police seized 10 AK-47 rifles, five shotguns, one Megaroof and a large quantity of ammunition.
