Port Qasim

KARACHI, Jan 10: Shipping activity remained active at the Port Qasim where two ships C V ACX Jasmine and M T Yanaseni, carrying containers and chemicals took berths at the Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro terminal, respectively, on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, two ships carrying chemicals and diesel also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same period.

Berth occupancy was managed 70pc at the port where seven ships C V ACX Jasmine, C V Nedlloyd Africa, M.V Bolan, M.V Zabrjed, M.V Leopard-B, M.T Sea Lion and M.T Yanaseni were engaged at berths to load, offload containers, rice, cement, furnace oil and chemicals, respectively, during the report period.

Cargo handling operation were carried out efficiently at the port where a cargo volume of 73,443 tons, comprising 56,942 tons of imports and 16,501 tons of exports, inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,566 (tues) containers, was handled at the port.

M V Nedlloyed Africa sailed out to sea and three ships Sea Lion and Jasmine are expected to sail on Friday.

Two ships Al-Salam-II and Qem Star are expected to take berths at Fotco and container terminal, respectively, on the same day.
