Published January 10, 2008

KARACHI, Jan 9: A Dawn staffer was deprived of cash in front of his Gulistan-i-Jauhar house late on Wednesday night by two muggers.

Senior journalist Omair Saqib was waylaid by two young men on a motorbike as he got out of his friend’s car after a short drive in the neighbourhood.

Mr Saqib’s house is located less than 100 metres from a building where personnel of the Bhittai Rangers have been stationed for the past few years.

The bandits rode away after snatching the newsman’s wallet, containing Rs7,000.
